My practice and body of work could be considered as an ongoing experimentation with different media. Primarily influenced by American Abstract Expressionism, my work lies between the fields of painting and printmaking. As a painter, I began exploring printmaking in 2007 and it quickly became central to my artistic practice. While my preferred medium is Monotype, I am equally influenced by the fusion of techniques that often produce unexpected effects generated by the press. What inspires me most is working with tactile material. These materials are an embodiment of memories, which are connected to the architecture of my childhood. I use gauze, nets, burlaps, lace, knits, weaves and everyday objects to explore and experience the sense of discovery and freedom, which I attempt to transmit to the viewer through my work.

Every print informs me of what I need to do as I move through time and I often employ multiple and repetitive images or visuals that suggest the passage of time. The play between control and spontaneity, repetition and singularity interest me. With printmaking I am both an artist as well as an engineer of sorts, as the practice demands a synergy of exactitude but also complete abandon.
